Orange Group Chooses Ericsson for 5G Network Slicing Orchestration Across Europe

Orange Group has selected Ericsson's Service Orchestration and Assurance platform to automate creation and management of 5G network slices across its European operations, following a successful late-2024 pilot in Belgium. The rollout begins in 2025, supporting enterprise and consumer services with enhanced agility and cloud-native integration.

Pilot Success in Belgium

In late 2024, Orange and Ericsson conducted a pilot deployment of Ericsson Service Orchestration and Assurance in Belgium. The trial demonstrated full end-to-end automation of 5G network slices, spanning core and RAN domains, and successfully supported enterprise applications such as mobile private networks and consumer fixed wireless access. This milestone confirmed the platform's readiness for mass deployment across multiple markets.

Overview of Ericsson's Orchestration Platform

Ericsson's multi-domain, intent-based orchestration solution enables streamlined deployment of network slicing use cases including CellLock, Geofencing for enterprise, and Fixed Wireless Access for consumers. Running atop Orange's cloud-native telco cloud (Sylva), it integrates with OSS/BSS systems and delivers continuous assurance through real-time monitoring and analytics.

Rollout Strategy Across Europe

The system will be progressively rolled out across Orange's European affiliates starting in 2025. Initial country deployments will be guided by strong enterprise demand, using lessons from the Belgian pilot to refine deployment practices. Modular implementation is planned through 2026 to scale across multiple markets efficiently.
